The Rutgers Center of Alcohol Studies is nationally and regionally recognized as a leader in innovative addiction-related education. The Summer School of Addiction Studies (SSAS) has provided continuing education to thousands of professionals in a broad range of addiction and behavioral health fields. This year, SSAS will focus on addiction treatment. Courses will provide indepth educational and experiential content on trauma-informed treatment approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family therapy, motivational interviewing, treatment considerations for the criminal justice system and current drug trends, and holistic treatment strategies to promote wellness.

Who Should Attend?
We train licensed service providers, supervisors, clinicians, students, prevention specialists, and educators. We welcome individuals from alcohol and drug treatment facilities, community based organizations, health centers, clinics, hospitals, medical schools, educational settings, law enforcement, and the armed forces to all of our events.

Join us for a unique professional development experience filled with intensive courses, lectures, and evening activities.
Registration includes FOCUS DAY 17 programming, two 3-day courses, three ‘lunch & learn’ events, and three afternoon lectures. [CE hours: ~30] Continental breakfast and lunch will be served each day. A professional networking picnic dinner is included on Monday night. Parking is free for all registrants.

“Dinner and a Movie” with Dr. Anthony Tobia
We are hosting a 2 CE hours “Dinner and A Movie” event on Tuesday night (6 – 8 pm).
Dinner is $15
Students earn one CE credit per hour of participation in FOCUS Day seminars, SSAS courses, "Lunch and Learn" events, and lectures. You must sign in and out of each event and complete a survey to receive credit. Certificates will be mailed within 30 days of the end of SSAS-75.
New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) offers tuition remission for Summer School of Addiction Studies to a limited number of applicants from DMHAS-licensed treatment agencies and programs. To apply, please register and then complete the DMHAS Scholarship Application on our website. Carefully check eligibility and application requirements. Scholarship applications must be received by June 19th but considered on a rolling basis.
