A main emphasis of the Center of Alcohol Studies' Addiction Education program is to disseminate evidence-based prevention programs to reduce risks related to alcohol and other drug use. Our two current prevention initiatives are:
SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) - a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to provide opportunities for early intervention for persons who are at risk of developing substance use disorders or who have already developed these disorders. Addiction Education staff provide technical support for health educators in family medicine clinics. We also provide basic training seminars and train the trainer opportunities.
FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders)
